weaving.
It was love at first pull, as I pulled a single thread on a shuttle between hundreds of open threads on a warp. This single dimension was becoming two dimensions, and the possibilities seemed endless. I was the engineer, the architect. I push and pull the idea and structural possibilities. I use a traditional 4-harness loom, as well as homemade looms and weaving boards to make the 2-D or 3-D structure I’m thinking about. Though many of these works are temporary and made to problem solve during the process, they are no less important or influential to the space I work around and within. “Surface” is a study of the land as it changes and shifts for development. This work is made up of photographs of the surfaces and progress, interpreted into woven cloth. Looking at building on a micro and macro level.
