Art has a rich history of informing the masses and being a powerful tool for activism. While a tone of activism and voice has always been present in my work, the last few years have l to more direct moments and mark making. I have used the power of my iPhone, social media, and low-tech techniques to create images, videos, posters, books, and pins.
As a larger project, I was asked to create an Art Car for the Houston parade, which was a fun and ultimately successful challenge. The rules set before me were: budget of $150 or less, must be removable and not harm vehicle, must take 30 minutes to set up and less than 10 minutes to breakdown, must use orange as primary color, had to provide text number to deliver information, had to be representative of Texas, must allow for people to ride and travel alongside. This car won 2nd place for political entry in 2016.
